How we handle the personal data of people who visit this site and of those who write to us through the contact form, pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). This is a courtesy translation: in case of discrepancy, the Italian text prevails.

Data we collect

The site does not require registration. Besides the technical logs described below, we only collect the data you send us by filling in the form on the Contact page:

name;
email address;
the text of your message, with whatever information you choose to write.

The site does not store this data: the message is forwarded to our mailbox and does not remain in any archive of the site.

Like any hosting service, Google (Firebase Hosting and Cloud Functions) records technical server logs, such as the IP address and request data. It processes them as our processor for the security and operation of the service, and we do not use them to identify you.

Purposes and legal basis

We use this data only to reply to you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: performance of pre-contractual measures taken at your request.

We do not use the data for newsletters, profiling or marketing.

Who processes data on our behalf

We rely on two providers, which process data as processors (Article 28 GDPR):

Google Ireland Limited: hosts the site (Firebase Hosting) and runs the function that receives the form (Cloud Functions, europe-west1 region, Belgium).
Resend, Inc. (United States): sends the message to our mailbox.

Transfers of data outside the European Union

Resend, Inc. is a US company and may process data in the United States. The transfer is covered by two safeguards. The first is Resend, Inc.'s certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, recognised by the European Commission through an adequacy decision. The second, as a fallback, is the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914) included in Resend's Data Processing Addendum.

Google Ireland Limited processes data in the European Union. Any transfers by Google to other countries are governed by its contracts with us.

Retention

The site does not retain messages. Those that reach our mailbox are kept for as long as needed to reply to you and to handle any relationship that follows, then we delete them unless the law requires otherwise.

Cookies and browser data

The site uses no cookies, ours or third-party, and no analytics or tracking tools.

The only data stored in your browser is your light or dark theme preference (localStorage, key oclTheme). It only serves to show you the site the way you chose it, stays on your device and is never sent to us. It is technical data, so no banner is needed.

Fonts are served by the site itself, with no requests to Google Fonts.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time, under Articles 15-22 GDPR:

to access your data;
to rectify it;
to erase it;
to restrict its processing;
to receive it in a structured format (portability);
to object to the processing.

To exercise your rights, write to giacomo@owlcavelabs.it. If you believe the processing breaches the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
